What we are

Gloriously Absurd Gaming makes comedy games. The comedy is not incidental — it is structural. It is the reason the game exists and the means by which it operates. The tradition we work in is the British tradition: Fawlty Towers, Yes Minister, Blackadder, Monty Python, Victoria Wood. The tradition that takes ridiculous things completely seriously.

Our games do not wink at the audience. They do not break character to acknowledge the absurdity. The Bureau of Civilisational Assessment has always existed. The Matter of the Misorientious Cube is administered by the Bureau of Cubical Reassembly. The Bureau has regulations. The regulations are enforced. The evidence is the games.

We make games for households

Every GAG game is built to be played across the household. The comedy register is dry, the violence is filed under "regrettable paperwork," and the worst thing that happens to anyone is usually a strongly-worded notice. We make games for families. We just refuse to call them family games, because the phrase has been used by too many people who didn't mean it. We mean it.

The Bureau Suitability Assessment

Every Gloriously Absurd Gaming product is reviewed by the Bureau of Civilisational Assessment before release and assigned a Bureau Suitability Assessment — a recommended age and one line of qualifying fine print specific to that product.

These are not ratings. The Bureau holds no statutory authority. The Bureau is not affiliated with PEGI, ESRB, the BBFC, or any other body whose acronym implies jurisdiction. The Bureau assesses anyway. Statutory ratings — where required by law — appear alongside Bureau assessments, not in place of them.

The vocabulary project

GAG makes up words. Words that are used consistently across all games, never explained in-game, and always defined precisely. They must sound like they could be real. They must mean what they sound like they mean, on reflection. They cannot be changed once ratified.
